The Lofoten Islands

Warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, the Lofoten Archipelago juts out into the Atlantic Ocean well north of the Arctic Circle. Home to Norway's cod fishermen in the late winter and salmon farms year round,  Lofoten is a Summer paradise with hundreds of tourists filling its rombuers (restored and refurnished fisherman's cabins) enjoying sandy beaches and sunny skies. In Winter Lofoten is turned over to the photographer. Small villages backed by snow covered peaks draw a crowd to its rocky shore, and the Northern Lights dancing overhead in the evening provide the crowning touch to this Winter wonderland.
